Name: Zettie Cox
Job Title: Filler
Location: Huron, OH

Who is Zettie Cox?
I’ve been with the company for seven years and currently work the second shift in the filling department. Over the years I’ve learned several lines and I really enjoy the work and the people around me. I consider myself an adventurous person, and one reason I like my work is that I get to learn new things. I want to learn even more.

When I’m away from work I spend most of my time with my kids, two daughters aged 20 and 17, and a son who’s 14. My daughters and I like to shop. We have tons of shoes and purses. I watch DVDs and movies with my son on the weekends.

What does color mean to you at work?
Color is very important to me in everything I do and I enjoy the role I play in bringing more color into other people’s lives. At work, we have lots of different colors here and I just think it’s awesome. They recently redid the lunch room. It’s now very brightly decorated with all the colors. I think bright colors make you feel better at work, at home and everywhere you go. I used to work at a foundry and it was very drab there. It’s much more pleasant to work in colorful surroundings.

It might sound funny but, if I could, I would paint a big bright yellow smiley face on the wall of the filling room. I think that would help people do their work. It would make people laugh and smile. You just can’t walk past a big yellow smiley face without breaking into a smile yourself.

…and out of work?
I’m very sensitive to colors, wherever I go. I think anything can be made more attractive if it’s more colorful. You just can’t get enough color, and each color has its own effect on people. Blues are a calming influence. Yellows are exciting and make people happy. Greens are the color of nature and symbolize growth.

What is your all-time favorite color and why?
Yellow would have to be my favorite. Whenever I see yellow, it makes me smile, makes me happy. Blue would be my second-favorite because it calms me. Green would be third because it means growing, and it’s a combination of yellow and blue.

My kids also have favorite colors. One of my daughters likes orange, the other likes white – I don’t know why, because it’s the absence of colors, but that’s what she likes. My son has three favorite colors – red, gray and black. That may be because he wants to attend The Ohio State University where the school colors are scarlet and gray, and he wants to study finance where, of course, everyone wants to be in the black.

If you could choose one color that most closely matches your personality, what would it be and why?
It would be no surprise to anyone who knows me that yellow definitely matches my personality the best. I wore yellow to my photo shoot. It’s the color of happiness and brightness, and that’s what I like to be. I also like to make other people smile.
