Name: Andrea Aigner
Job title: Bookkeeper
Location: Elixhausen
Country: Austria
Who is Andrea Aigner?
I started as a trainee industrial clerk at AkzoNobel in Elixhausen in 1989. After finishing my training, I was taken on in bookkeeping, where I now look after accounts payable, facilities accounting and payments. In September 2010 I’ll start additional training to become a company accountant.
I live with my family in a small village near Salzburg, I don’t have any children myself yet, but I’m an enthusiastic aunty of five nephews and nieces. I like to spend my free time in the outdoors, walking and mountaineering. I seek and find relaxation by reading a good book.
What does color mean to you at work?
When you work for a company that produces paints and varnishes, you’re obviously always dealing indirectly with color. Personally I like bright colors! When we moved to a new office, I was involved in the interior design and chose shades of bright, sunny yellow. Because the room is north facing I was determined to use yellow to bring in the sun. The curtains too are yellow, orange and light green.
Our company has just agreed to work with SOS Children’s Villages, where we’re going to give several of the homes a facelift in October. It goes without saying that I’ll be taking part in it. I think it’s fantastic that AkzoNobel is getting involved and taking on social responsibilities in Elixhausen and in local communities.
…and outside of work?
Personally I prefer shades of green and blue. To me they reflect the bright colors in nature; the lush meadows, beautiful woods and brilliant blue skies of our breathtaking mountain scenery.
When we built our own house a few years ago, I was able to run wild and use all my favorite colors. The façade is painted a beautiful yellow, the living area is yellow and blue, and the kitchen is in shades of red and green.
What is your all-time favorite color and why?
In general I like to have color around me and I love bright colors. I prefer dressing in strong dramatic colors. Perhaps vivid pink or purple. But generally speaking, I couldn’t specify one particular color. It depends a lot on my mood and also on the colors which are currently in fashion.
If you could choose one color that most closely matches your personality, what would it be and why?
As I said, I prefer lively, bright colors. They change according to my surroundings and my mood. The color that perhaps describes me best would be shades of green – to me it’s the color of hope and happiness.
